Description
This large L-shaped barn, located 10 yards west of New Barn Farmhouse, was built in the 18th century and features a 20th-century exterior. The barn consists of two units of slightly different ages. The north-south unit has five bays with aisles and connects at its north end (on the west side) to an east-west unit that has six bays, also with aisles. The structure is timber-framed on a brick base and includes a Queen Post truss and arch-braces. The roof is covered with 20th-century tiles, and the walls are boarded, also from the 20th century. One of the posts is inscribed with initials and dates, including 1782, 1796, 1790, 1837, 1846, and 1911.
