Description
This is a barn dating from the early 18th century, located approximately 30 meters northwest of Newhouse Farmhouse. The barn features a timber frame with brick infill and a plinth, topped with a plain-tile roof that is half-hipped at the left end. It consists of four bays and has opposing cart doorways in the second bay from the right, with the rear doorway blocked in the 20th century. There are also two single doors located on opposite sides at each end of the barn. The framing includes square paneling with some braces, mostly filled with brick, although 20th-century windows have been inserted into some panels. The framing on the right end has largely been replaced with brick below the tie beam. Inside, there are two queen-post trusses and one queen-strut truss, featuring clasped principals and a ridge piece. Most of the original trenched purlins are arranged in two tiers, with the remainder replaced in the 20th century. Other attached farm buildings are not of special architectural interest.
