Description
The Bishop's House is a timber-framed house dating from around 1600, featuring painted render infill panels and standing on sandstone foundations. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof that is hipped at the north end and gabled at the south and west ends. The building is two storeys tall with an L-shaped plan, which includes a lower one-storey and attic wing that is positioned at right angles to the west. The windows are mainly two-light casements with leaded lights, and there are small oriel bay windows on the ground floor of the north and west gables. An open lean-to porch is located in the angle between the two sections of the house. The main range has a brick ridge chimney stack, and there is another brick stack that projects from the south side of the lower wing.
