Description

Monks is a house dating from the 16th century, which incorporates parts of a monastic building and has been altered in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed from rubble flint, mostly rendered, with brick and stone dressings. The house has four bays and is two storeys high, with a 20th-century wing added to the front on the right. The rear of the four bays features a flint plinth with a moulded stone offset. In the central bays, there are 16th-century three-light ovolo-mullioned windows with dripstones. The left bay has a 20th-century lean-to that is pebbledashed, while the right bay contains a three-light 20th-century casement window and a projecting 20th-century round single-storey flat-roofed addition. On the first floor, the central bays have a two-light casement window that indents into the eaves, the left bay has a two-light casement, and the right bay has a three-light casement from the 20th century. There are stacks located to the right of centre and between the right bays.
