Description
Upper Goddards is a house that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and a new front added in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The rear features lower walls made of flint, with timber framing and whitewashed brick infill above. The front has been rebuilt in brick at various times, with the two left bays dating from the 20th century. It has an old tiled roof, with a thin brick chimney located between the right bays and another brick chimney at the rear.
The house is a long, one-storey structure with an attic and consists of six bays. The third bay has a 19th-century gabled projection made of flint and brick at the front. The left bays feature 20th-century metal casements and French doors, while the upper windows are in gabled semi-dormers. The projection has paired barred wooden casements and a 20th-century door on the right side. Bays four and five also have similar casements in gabled eaves-line dormers, with ground floor windows to the left and a canted bay window to the right. The right bay includes a flush-panelled door with a flat hood supported by shaped wooden scroll brackets.
At the rear, there are five gabled eaves-line dormers, irregularly placed ground floor windows, and a central flush-panelled door. There is a blocked original window with four small lights and diamond mullions located below the eaves on the left side. Additionally, there is a small lean-to extension at the rear left and a bridge passage connecting the first floor to a converted outbuilding.
