Description
Millards Hill House is a house that dates from the 16th century, with alterations and additions from the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is built of rubble with stone-tiled and slate roofs, and features stone and brick stacks. The house has an L-shaped plan.
On the west elevation, there are one-to-one bays, two 20th-century windows with a single light in plain freestone surrounds, a three-light stone-mullioned window with reserved chamfers, and a small sash window with glazing bars in a freestone surround. To the left, there is a 20th-century door set in a single-storeyed addition with double Roman tiles. The east side has a chamfered door opening with a four-centred arch head and a studded plank door.
The interior has some modifications from the 20th century but retains early features, including ceiling beams with chamfers and stops, and a fireplace with a broad wooden bressumer, indicating the presence of a former timber-framed smoke hood.
