Description
Mole Cottage, Donegal Cottage, No. 5 South View, and Rose Cottage form a row of five cottages built in the early 19th century, with two of them featuring datestones from 1821. The cottages are constructed of rubble, with some areas rendered, and have slate roofs and brick chimney stacks. The group is irregularly arranged over two storeys, with a total of 12 bays, and features sash windows that include glazing bars.
South View has a late 19th-century shop front that includes a large four-pane double-hung sash window and a five-panelled door to the right, topped with a transom. Above the door is a leaded hood supported by fluted consoles, and there is a rolling blind. Below the window, there are glazed tiles with the lettering "A GIBBONS" in a decorative surround. Donegal Cottage features a small carved figure on the first floor. The row includes five door openings, mostly with plank doors; South View has a 20th-century porch and a half-glazed door, while Rose Cottage has a glazed door.
