Description
Nos 7 and 9 on the south side of Ringwood Market Place are late 18th-century houses that have been altered in the 20th century and are now used as a shop. The building features painted brickwork and a plain tile roof, standing two stories high with an attic and comprising four bays. The central entrance has a studded door set within an architrave, topped by a three-light rectangular fanlight. This doorcase is flanked by engaged columns with enriched necking, which rest on a plinth and support a frieze and cornice beneath an open pediment adorned with floral roundels. On either side of the entrance, there are large-pane shop windows above a fascia. The first floor has a four-pane window under a rendered arch. The building is finished with a moulded cornice and parapet, featuring pilasters between the bays and coping. At the center of the roof, there is a two-light hip-roofed dormer.
