Description
Cox and Hicks is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick in header bond and is painted, featuring an old plain tile roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has four bays, along with a wing at the rear.
The front façade includes two 20th-century plate glass shop windows on a plinth, with the right-hand window being smaller and situated between a recessed glass door. Above this is a fascia and a large awning box. On the first floor, there are four 19th-century metal casement windows in their original openings, which are topped with rendered arches. The eaves are moulded timber.
The roof features two large pedimented dormers with nine-pane sash windows. There is a chimney stack located at the left-hand end of the ridge and another behind the ridge on the right side of the wing. The building is included for its group value.
