Description

The building known as Fox and Sons is a shop located in Ringwood Market Place. It dates from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and a rear extension added in the 20th century. The structure is built of painted brick in header bond and features an old plain tile wall with medieval ridge tiles.

It is two stories high and has two bays. The ground floor showcases a plain shop front from around 1840, which includes a half-glazed service door on the right-hand side, topped with a rectangular fanlight that has intersecting glazing bars. There are 15-pane shop windows on either side of the door. A thin pilaster with a bracket separates different sections of the shop front, supporting a fascia with a moulded cornice.

On the first floor, there are two 19th-century tripartite sash windows set beneath a cambered arch. The building features a dentil eaves and has a stack located at the left-hand end.
