Description
The Original White Hart is an inn with an older core dating back to the 18th century, which was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick with some stucco dressings and features an old plain tile roof. The building has two stories and an attic, with a seven-bay front and a rear wing at one end. At the other end, there is a 1½ story, two-bay 18th-century building, along with a 19th-century gabled addition over an archway that links to the next building.
The front has an added gabled bay over the archway on the right-hand side. In the second bay from the left, there is a half-glazed door set in a doorcase with plain pilasters and a console bracket that supports a swan-neck pediment. On either side of the door and between the two bays, there are paired small sash windows with moulded architraves, a narrow frieze above, and a moulded hood. Large modillions are located at each end and in the center of the cornice, which carries a round center with an acorn finial above. To the right of the center, there is a similar single sash window.
On the first floor, there are seven 18th-century sash windows in architraves, with three in the center and two in the end bays. Below the first-floor windows, there are string corbels to the sills. Above the door, there is a wrought iron sign bracket. The eaves are overhanging, and there are three 19th-century gabled dormers with cut bargeboards. A large ridge stack is located to the right of the center, with a small stack to the right bay and another stack behind the ridge on the left rear wing.
