Description
20 High Street is a late 18th-century house that has been altered in the 19th century and is now used as a shop. The building is constructed of rendered brick and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays. To the right of the centre, there is a pedimented doorcase with an altered six-panel door. Each side of the doorcase features a four-pane sash window. The left bay has an early 20th-century shop front, which includes a glazed door and a plate-glass window divided in two, all beneath a fascia. Above the other bays, there is a raised band on the first floor, which contains four-pane sash windows. The frieze and cornice are decorated with closely spaced modillion brackets. At the right end of the building, there is a tall stack with an off-set head, also featuring modillion brackets, adjacent to a taller building.
