Description
This mid-19th century shop with accommodation is located on the south side of High Street. The building is constructed of brick, with painted surfaces and stucco dressings, and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high and four bays wide. The ground floor features glazed doors in the right-hand centre bay and between the left-hand bays. A four-pane door is located at the right-hand end, leading to an apartment above. This is set beneath a rusticated arch. Otherwise, two plate-glass shop windows are positioned between rusticated pilasters, all under similar arches. Above the shop windows is a balcony supported by cast-iron brackets with railings featuring anthemions and stars on the uprights. The first floor has large sash windows with narrow side panes and segmental heads that cut into the frieze, positioned between pilasters at each end and in the centre. A full entablature is topped with a moulded cornice, featuring small modillions, and a low parapet. A central ridge stack has a modillioned, off-set head.
