Description

The Fox and Hounds Public House is an 18th-century building that consists of two sections, with alterations made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It features painted brickwork, an old plain tile roof with lead ridges, and brick stacks. The later section facing the road is two stories high and has five bays, while the older section, set at an angle behind it, is also two stories and has three bays. This older part includes a full-height half hexagonal wing at the road end, with a single-storey infill between it and the front range, as well as a single-storey projection on the opposite side.

The road-facing section has a three-light window and a carriageway with large double doors that are ramped at one end. On the first floor, there are five twelve-pane sash windows, and the eaves are dentilled. The roof is hipped. There is a 19th-century half-glazed timber infill between the two ranges. The older section features a 20th-century door in the hexagonal end, with twelve-pane sashes on each face on the first floor, dentilled eaves, and a hipped roof. A flat-roofed projection has three tall fifteen-pane sashes and a twelve-pane sash next to the entrance. At the back of the original part, there are two- or three-light casements, a hipped roof, and an off-centre ridge stack.
