Description

The Stag Hotel is a hotel built in 1907, featuring brick with painted stone dressings and a plain tile roof. It has a roughly square plan with four windows and stands three stories tall on one side and two and a half stories on the other. The front of the building has a three-story gable on the left, while the rest is two and a half stories. There is an arched opening on the left with the date inscribed on the key, and to the right, a window with a three-pane fanlight, a half-glazed door, and a tripartite window. Above this is a plain frieze and a moulded cornice.

The left half bay features an oriel window with decorative lead under the casements and a moulded cornice. In the gable, there are two tiers of attic windows: a three-light segmental head casement and a two-light casement at the top. The right side has two-light segmental head casements flanking a sign. The eaves are overhanging, and there is a large three-light dormer with a hipped roof supported by brackets.

At the right end corner, there is an oriel tower from the first floor, which was altered in the late 20th century with timber cladding and a flat top. Under the cornice, there is a wide segmental door on the corner, with windows on the other side at the far end. On the first floor, there are three segmental head two-light casements, and in the other bay, there is a stack with two arched panels rising from a large bracket on the cornice. The two far bays have a gable similar to the other end.
