Description
Meadow Cottage and Store, along with Gravel Cottages, are a pair of late 18th-century cottages situated at right angles to the roadway. Originally, each unit began as a timber-framed house and was subsequently extended to form two cottages. The northern pair has a south-facing front of two storeys, featuring three windows in the central block and one window each to the sides. The roof is half-hipped at the west end. The walls are of stone with brick dressings, with the eastern section (No.2) constructed of larger coursed stonework. The windows are casements. There are plain doors and C20 service wings recessed at each end, designed to match the existing style. The southern pair presents a symmetrical south-facing front of two storeys and two windows. The roof is half-hipped with brick dentil eaves, and the walls are stone with brick quoins and cambered arches, and a plinth. Casement windows are present, alongside boarded doors beneath open tiled hoods supported by brackets. A narrow roadside building, with a hipped tile roof and stone walls with four openings, sits between the two pairs of cottages. The remaining walls of this building are boarded.
