Description
Eveley House is a house that dates from the 16th century, with additions from the 17th century, mid-19th century, and significant restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed of stone and tile, featuring a medieval timber-framed hall with four bays. At the east end, there is a Victorian cross-wing that extends to the rear, in line with two other extensions—one from the 17th century and the other from the 20th century. The front of the house, facing southeast, is two storeys high with three windows. It has a steep hipped roof with gablets, while the cross-wing has a lower hipped roof that is positioned at right angles. The walls are primarily stone, with some brickwork, and the cross-wing is made of painted brickwork. There are three stone buttresses supporting the wall on the west side, and the windows are 20th-century casements. The entrance is located at the rear. The rear elevation features one hipped roof and two half-hipped roofs above a continuous stone wall, with the middle section belonging to the 17th-century wing. Inside, the massive timber framing is exposed, along with alterations made in the 20th century.
