Description
The Old Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century restoration and alterations. It features mixed walling materials and a tiled roof. The building is timber-framed, with rear wings that have coupled gables and a narrower lower wing on the east side, along with a projecting front wing on the east side. The structure has been extended westwards to connect with a barn. It has two storeys and irregular fenestration. The steep half-hipped roof includes three large and different dormers on the front (south) side. The framing is exposed, with brick infill and some stone, while the gables front and rear are tile-hung. The walls are roughcast and include some painted brickwork. The windows are casements of various designs. A 20th-century stone porch is present. On the east roadside elevation, there is a massive tapered stack attached to the frame, with its lower part concealed by an outshot. The Old Farmhouse is now connected to an 18th-century barn, which has five bays, timber framing with aisles, a Queen post truss, a half-hipped tiled roof, stone walls, and large openings.
