4/39 Milestone

Milestone. c1825. White stone pillar of square section placed diagonally, the upper part of the front being rounded, leaving a sloping triangle below, and with a sloping face at the top. Incised letters and numbers include, on the top the name of the parish (Bentley), on the rounded face LONDON, on the triangle the mileage to London (42), on the east face Alton 5 and on the west face Farnham 4. Indecipherable lettering on the rear faces.
