Description
Milestone dating from around 1825, located on the A31 Main Road in Bentley. This milestone is made of white stone and has a square section that is placed diagonally. The upper part of the front is rounded, creating a sloping triangle below, with a sloping face at the top. The milestone features incised letters and numbers: the name of the parish, "Bentley," is on the top; "LONDON" is on the rounded face; the mileage to London, "42," is on the triangle; "Alton 5" is on the east face; and "Farnham 4" is on the west face. There is indecipherable lettering on the rear faces.
