Description
Somerset Cottages, No. 1, is a cottage attached to No. 2, dating from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, with a 20th-century rear extension. The exterior is made of brick and features a tile roof. It includes a late-medieval cruck-built timber-framed hall, which has a large chimney breast and an upper floor. The front (south) elevation has one storey and an attic, with two windows. The roof is half-hipped at the west end and has two gabled dormers. The walls are constructed of red brickwork in Flemish bond, with Monk bond on the south gable, and a cemented plinth beneath tile-hanging. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door in a plain frame.
