Description
Somerset Cottages, No. 2, is a cottage attached to No. 1, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The front features brickwork and a tile roof, with a timber-framed structure that has been reclad at the front. The building is two storeys high and has two windows. The roof has a half-hip to connect with the ridge of No. 1, and both the front and rear west sides have a tile-hung gable. The front wall is constructed in Flemish bond, with a cement plinth and a vertical timber post at the west corner that joins with No. 1, partially obscured by tiling. The rear wall and east gable display exposed framing with brick infill and other walling. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door in a plain frame at both the front and rear. A brick near the doorway is incised with "ACMC." Attached to the east side is a timber-framed shed from the early 19th century, featuring a tiled roof and boarded walls.
