Description

Milestone 36 is an 1826 milestone with a square section, placed diagonally. It has a rounded top and a curved front, which features a triangular chamfer below the curve that displays the milestone number. The top has the words "Parish of Hartley Wintney" in lower case lettering, while the curved face shows the word "LONDON" in capital letters. The east face indicates "Basingstoke 9" and the west face shows "Hartford Bridge ¼" along with their respective mileage figures. Currently, this stone has been uprooted and lies in the grass verge.
