Description

This milestone, located on London Road in Hook, dates back to 1826. It is made of standard white stone and has a square section set diagonally. The top is chamfered and features the inscription 'PARISH OF ODIHAM'. Below this, there is a curved front with large incised letters spelling 'LONDON', and above it, a triangular chamfer displays the number '38', indicating the distance in miles to London. The eastern face of the milestone shows 'Basingstoke 7½', while the western face indicates 'Hartford Bridge 2¼'.
