Description

The barn to the west of the Homestead dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. It has four bays with an additional outshot bay to the north. There is a projecting entrance on the west side and aisles on both sides of the two southern bays. The roof is covered with red tiles and features low eaves over the aisles, a full hip extending to low eaves above the northern outshot, a hipped section above the entrance, and a gabled end at the south. Inside, there are queen posts with arched braces supporting the tie-beam and side frames. The walls display an exposed frame that is bricknogged, while the aisle and outshot are weather-boarded. The large southern gable has brickwork at the ground floor, including a central buttress, beneath a substantial bricknogged frame.
