Description
Dutch House is a building from the 18th and 19th centuries, originally designed as a square house with two storeys and an attic, featuring three bays on each symmetrical side. It has undergone some alterations and has several later additions. The roof is a red tile mansard style, with flat-roofed dormers in the center of each elevation. The walls are made of painted brick, topped with a thin stone coping along the parapet. There are four rendered plain pilasters, rubbed flat arches, stone cills, and a plinth.
The entrance front, facing north, has altered window arrangements, including one tall window on the east side, with the center now filled in and sashes set in reveals. An 'Ionic' porch extends forward from a wider solid porch, with an entablature that wraps around the entire structure, and a semicircular fanlight sits above a panelled door. The west elevation remains intact, featuring a rendered band at the first-floor level. The old south elevation is now hidden by a recent tall single-storey addition with a flat roof, which includes three tall sashes that reach down to ground level. To the east, there is a large two-storey range, primarily timber-clad, with red tile roofing (some areas have slate), and it has low eaves on the north side where it projects forward from the original building.
