Description

Damales House is a 16th-century timber-frame building with alterations from the 18th century and modern additions. It is two storeys high with a five-window front. The timber frame is largely concealed, but ½ timber framing is visible on the north and south sides. The walls are primarily red brick, laid in a Flemish bond pattern in the central section, with cambered ground-floor openings. The roof is covered in red tiles and is partially hipped.

The house features substantial internal stacks built on a massive base. This base contains a large, 4-centred arch leading to a ground-floor fireplace, and a smaller 4-centred arch leading to a first-floor fireplace, both with chamfered edges. Casement windows are present. The doorway is plain.

To the west of the house are the remains of an earlier barn, which has been rebuilt to a lower level using old timbers. A connecting north wing of very recent construction, built in a matching style, adjoins the barn and the main house.
