Description
The Phoenix Inn is a building from the 17th century, with some alterations made around 1900. It has two storeys and features irregular window arrangements. Although the heavy interior timbers suggest it was originally a timber-framed house, the exterior walls are made of brick. The roof is covered with red tiles and has a half-hipped design at the north end. The rear elevation includes three gables that are tile-hung, a central stack, and an attached chimney breast at the south end. The rear wall is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with cambered openings, while the front wall is painted. The windows are casements. There is a notable six-panelled door from the 18th century on the north side of the front, while the south side features an Edwardian redesign, including a half-timbered gable and a long canopy supported by brackets, which shelters three entrances.
