Description
The barn next to the Phoenix Inn is an 18th-century structure that features six bays and is attached to the inn at one corner. It has westward extensions that are at a lower level, with a gabled entrance located at the third bay from the east. The barn is constructed with a timber frame, which includes straight struts to the tie-beam, purlins, and wall frame. It has a red tile roof that is half-hipped at the east end and at the lower gable of the westward addition. The walls are made of red brick, although they have been significantly altered, and are pierced by mixed fenestration. This barn serves as an important northern boundary to the deep forecourt of the inn.
