Description
Marelands Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 16th century, with later additions from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed from brick and tile and has a complex history, originally being timber-framed with timber-framed extensions. The cottage features a rear extension from the early 19th century and some minor additions from the 20th century.
The north elevation is one storey with an attic and has two above six varied windows. The roof is half-hipped, with the rear extension having a hipped, low-pitched tiled roof and two gabled dormers that have cills at eaves level. The central section has painted brick walls, while the ends display exposed timber framing with brick infill and other walling, including some cambered openings. Light timber framing is also visible at each end. The windows are casements, and there is a small plain door at the east end, along with a larger 20th-century half-timbered porch.
