Description
Fox Hall and Fox Hall Cottage is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the early 18th century, with its exterior remodeled in the mid-19th century and some small extensions added in the 20th century. The building is constructed of stucco and slate, featuring a front (south) elevation that is two storeys high with an attic and has six windows. The steep roof is half-hipped at the west end and hipped at the east end, with 'toothed' eaves fascia and three gabled dormers that have scalloped bargeboards. There is a shafted stack visible as well. The walls are plain with a plinth, and the windows are sashes set in reveals.
The porch has two columns and two pilasters, adorned with Greek mouldings and slender Doric columns, leading to a wide doorway with half-glazed double doors. At the rear, there is a second floor that is partly jettied, while the lower walls are made of painted brickwork in Flemish bond, featuring some cambered openings, a round-headed sash window for the staircase, and a half-glazed door beneath a canopy.
