Description

The barn located 30 yards north of Knowl Farmhouse dates from the 17th century, with early 19th century and 20th century alterations. Originally consisting of five bays with central projection entrances, the barn now has one-and-a-half units at the north end that are part of a new building designed to resemble the original after a fire. Together, they form an L-shaped block. The roof is covered with ripped tiles and features low eaves. The older section of the barn showcases massive timber-framing, including Queen post trusses and arch-braced purlins, while the walls of the old part are brick-nogged, with the new section constructed of brick.
