Description
The barn at Oddstone Farmhouse, located approximately 10 metres southwest of the farmhouse, dates from the 17th century and was altered in the early 18th century. It is timber-framed with square framing and is weatherboarded, except for three eastern bays which have been rebuilt in squared and coursed chalk with brick cross banding. The roof is made of corrugated iron. The barn has an L-shaped plan consisting of four and five bays, with a threshing floor at the junction of the two wings. Inside, it features queen-strut trusses made from heavy timber, with jowled posts braced to the tie and wall plates, as well as windbraces and butt tenoned purlins. At the eastern end, the original timber framing beneath a 17th-century truss has been replaced by a chalk and brick wall, and three trusses leading up to the eastern gable wall were constructed in the 18th century.
