Description

The Village Hall is a single-storey building originally constructed as a school around 1872 by G.E. Street. It is built of chalk ashlar with brick quoins and limestone dressings, topped with an old tile roof. The front gable end facing the road features a three-light stone mullioned window with low transoms and cusped heads. The right side wall has two additional three-light stone-mullioned windows. On the left side, there is a blocked door with a splayed pointed stone arch above it, as well as a lean-to porch that has a segmental stone arch over a planked door adorned with decorative strap hinges. At the rear left, there is a gabled wing set at right angles, which also contains three-light stone-mullioned windows. The eaves reveal exposed rafters, and the building has a gabled roof. Additionally, there is a late 19th-century gabled wing at the rear and a mid-20th-century lean-to against half of the rear right wall.
