Description

College Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed sarsen rubble with ashlar chalk bands and brick dressings, topped with a 20th-century tile roof and featuring brick stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a five-window range of 20th-century casements. The main entrance has a mid to late 18th-century four-panelled door, which is half glazed. The ground floor is made of sarsen walling, separated from the first floor of chalk ashlar by a brick band. There are segmental brick arches over the windows and door, with brick dressings to all openings, as well as brick quoins at the front and rear and a brick band under the eaves. The roof is hipped with a ridge, and there are lateral and end stacks. Inside, the main and service stairs remain, but the interior has not been inspected. There is a mid-20th-century roughcast extension to the rear and a much-altered granary against the west gable wall.
