Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. It features finely jointed brickwork, partly roughcast on a sandstone base, and has plain tiled roofs with end stacks on the main section. The building is part two storeys, part single storey with an attic, and includes a three-course band at the upper floor level.
The main two-storey section consists of three bays, with two ground floor and two first floor 16-pane sash windows that have moulded architraves. The ground floor windows feature cambered heads. The third bay contains a 20th-century multi-paned door, and above it, at the first floor level, is a datestone inscribed "C/ FS/ 17?" with a moulded surround.
Adjoining the right end is a single storey and attic section that has a 12-pane ground floor sash window with a cambered head. To the left of this window is the main entrance, which is covered by a flat canopy on shaped brackets. This entrance features a broad moulded architrave, raised and fielded panelled reveals and soffit, and a four-panelled door. The right gable end has attic lights. The rear right of the building has a large chimney, and there is a 20th-century addition on the right side and rear. The interior has not been inspected.
