Description

These are a pair of houses located on Bradford Lane in Belbroughton, originally dating to the 17th century, with significant alterations and extensions in the mid-18th and mid-19th centuries. The construction is a mix of timber framing with brick infill, brick refacing and replacement walling, and brick. The roofs are tiled, with a parapet on the south gable end and end stacks.

The two houses are two storeys high, with a two-course band separating the floors. Number 7 has a 3-light casement window on both floors; the ground floor window has a cambered head. It also has a rectangular ground floor light and a ledged and battened door, protected by a lean-to canopy supported on shaped brackets. Number 9 features two 3-light casement windows on the ground floor, also with cambered heads, and two 2-light casement windows on the first floor. The right-hand entrance has a 6-panelled door, sheltered by a gabled canopy on moulded brackets. A section of a former gable-end parapet projects through the roofline between the two houses, and a tall chimney stack is also present.

Some timber framing is visible at the left gable end, consisting primarily of two panels from sill to wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. It appears the roof was raised and altered in the 18th century. An 19th century two-storey wing extends from the rear left side. The interior remains uninspected.
