Description

Belbroughton's Workmen's Club is a building that originally served as a house and later as a bank before becoming a club. It features an 18th-century remodelling of a 17th-century structure, with mid-20th-century alterations and additions. The building is partly timber-framed with a brick facade and has a plain tiled roof with a stack at the left end of the ridge. It stands two storeys high with a dentilled eaves cornice and consists of three bays.

On the south front elevation, the left and centre bays have full-height canted bay window additions with 20th-century casement windows. These flank an 18th-century doorcase that has a moulded flat canopy supported by consoles, large panelled pilasters, and an entablature, although these features have been altered by the insertion of 20th-century boarded panels. The door is a 20th-century six-panelled design. The third bay features a wide entrance with a cambered head and double doors, along with a shallow-gabled half-dormer that has a 20th-century single-light casement. Beneath this window is a recessed brickwork panel.

Inside, the building retains heavy ceiling beams and some evidence of wall-framing, with a wall-post visible at the rear. The structure adjoins and extends partly behind Douglas Mills and Sulur at the left gable end.
