Description
The Church Hall, originally a barn, dates from the early 17th century and has undergone early to mid-20th century alterations. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill set on a sandstone base, topped by a shallow-pitched slate roof. The building consists of five framed bays arranged in an east/west direction and is a single level. The framing includes two panels from the sill to the wall-plate with large swept braces, some of which may be reused cruck blades, and straight braces in the lower corners of the two original bays at the west end. The tie-beam trusses have raking struts that were incorporated during the re-roofing.
On the south elevation, there are seven square six-pane windows inserted in the upper panels, along with a central bay window that extends to full height and includes a central door. Inside, the hall features arch-braced tie-beam trusses with raking struts. A lean-to addition at the west gable end encloses the main entrance door, and there is a large single-storey addition from the 20th century on the north elevation.
