Description
No. 16 Church Hill is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of handmade brick, which is painted at the rear, and features a slate roof with parapets and stone copings at the gable ends, along with two large ridge stacks. The house has two storeys and an attic with a rear dormer, and it displays three-course bands at the levels of the storeys.
The building has four bays, with windows that are all cross-casements featuring gauged flat heads. All the windows are 20th-century replacements except for those in the fourth bay. There are attic lights located in the left gable end. The main entrance is situated at the right gable end and is enclosed by a 20th-century porch. Although the interior has not been inspected, there is a two-storey, single-bay addition with a hipped roof at the right gable end, in front of the main entrance. This addition has a three-light 20th-century casement in its front elevation and a two-light casement on both floors at its right end. Additionally, there are large 18th-century and 19th-century wings at the rear.
