Description
This is a house, dating from around 1700, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of pebbledashed sandstone, with a slate roof. Brick stacks are located on the left side, and an external chimney forms part of the main south front on the right. The house has two floors and two bays. The south elevation features 19th-century windows: a cross-casement and a three-light casement with moulded architraves on the ground floor, and two three-light casements on the first floor. The main entrance, on the left, has a shallow flat canopy supported by wrought iron brackets, a moulded architrave, and a six-panelled door. Shaped bargeboards are present at the left gable end. Some original sandstone walling is exposed at the right gable end. While the interior has not been inspected, it is believed to contain parts of the original roof structure and some timber-framed walling on the first floor. A 19th-century wing extends to the rear right. The house occupies a prominent position, facing the main western approach into Belbroughton village, and is situated near Brook House, The Old Malt House, Island House, The Queens Public House, Corner House, and their associated outbuildings. It is listed for its contribution to the group value of the area.
