Description
Brook House and The Old Malt House are a pair of houses, originally a single dwelling, dating from the 18th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof and features two large ridge stacks. It has an L-shaped layout. The south elevation, facing the road, has two bays and contains 6-pane sash windows from the 19th century. The east elevation has an irregular arrangement of windows; the ground floor has two 3-light casements, one with a curved head, while the first floor has two 16-pane sashes with curved heads, a 20th-century 12-pane casement also with a curved head, and a 20th-century single-light casement. A 20th-century flat-roofed porch with glazed sides, a half-glazed door, and a side light form the central entrance to Brook House. The interior has not been inspected. A large 20th-century addition to the west side now forms the main entrance to The Malt House. The building is prominently situated on the western approach into Belbroughton village, opposite Island House and the Corner House and adjoining outbuildings, and is adjacent to No 28 Drayton Road.
