Description

These are a pair of houses dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The construction is a mix of timber framing with brick infill, replacement walling, and brick facing, topped with a plain tiled roof featuring a large ridge stack and a smaller stack to the rear right. The houses are two storeys and have an attic with a dentilled eaves cornice. There are three bays in width. The ground-floor windows have arched heads, with two 2-light casements and a 3-light casement in a larger opening; at the first floor there are two 2-light casements and a cross-casement. A ledged and battened door with a curved head is on the left, while the other entrance, situated between the central and right bays, has a gabled canopy supported by shaped brackets and a 4-panelled door. Some wall framing and a collar and tie-beam truss with struts remain visible at the left gable end; remnants of a similar truss are present at the right gable end. Attic windows are located in both gable ends. Interior features are reported to include back-to-back fireplaces.
