Description

This is a late 18th-century house, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted brick with a plain tiled roof, incorporating brick ridge details and rear stacks. The house is three storeys high, plus a cellar, and features a dentilled eaves cornice. It has three main bays, plus a single bay addition, with windows having stone lintels, keyblocks, and moulded architraves. The ground and first-floor windows are 20-pane sashes, while the second-floor windows are 8-pane sashes. A prominent central bay, comprising three bays, has a 12-pane sash window on the first floor, and a traceried oeil-de-boeuf (circular) window above on the second floor. The main entrance is accentuated by an open pediment supported by columns, a moulded architrave, a six-panelled door with fielded panels, and a traceried fanlight. The interior retains original ceiling mouldings and woodwork. The central hall contains a dog-leg staircase with a moulded wreathed handrail. A library on the first floor features reused Jacobean oak panelling, originally from Clent Hall.
