Description

Kingstone Farmhouse is a 18th-century farmhouse with a datestone reading "HE 1730" above the door. It features a front made of chalk ashlar with limestone dressings and a stone slate roof, along with brick stacks. The building has a central staircase plan and a rear service area under separate roofs. It stands two stories tall and has a five-window range of sash windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed, and is sheltered by a flat hood with a moulded cornice supported by carved brackets. There is a limestone ashlar band at floor level, brick dentilled eaves, and limestone coping. The end stacks are symmetrical, and the gabled right side wall displays horizontal chalk bands.

At the rear, there are three blocks that form a continuous outshut, constructed of chalk and sarsen, each with a hipped roof. Late 19th-century and 20th-century casements are present, along with a central door in a semi-circular brick arch set in the stack above. A mid-19th-century canted bay window is located in the side wall, and there is one 181-light leaded casement in the rear gabled dormer. Inside, the farmhouse features a stone flag floor and a fine straight-flight staircase from around 1730 with moulded balusters. There are quarter turn service stairs in the centre of the rear outshut, and the rear right room has plank and stud panelling with a guilloche frieze and skirting, while the front left room has square framed panelling. Kingstone Farmhouse was formerly part of the Craven estate.
