Description
Lower Millhouse is a late 18th-century miller’s house, now a house, located in Ashbury Kingstone Winslow. It is an L-shaped building with an adjoining brewhouse range. The front of the house is of rendered brick with a rear wall of chalk rubble, and it has an old tiled roof. The main range is two storeys high and has a three-window front. Segmental brick arches mark the blocked central doorway and the 19th-century three-light casement windows. The eaves have dentils, and the roof is gabled with symmetrical gable-end stacks. The single-storey brewhouse range has a gable-end stack and two windows and one ledged door facing the front, with segmental arches over the two-light leaded casement windows. A two-storey and attic rear wing is of rendered brick with a tiled roof and a three-window range, featuring segmental arches over the right-hand door and the 19th-century casement windows. There is also a brick and tile gabled dormer with three-light leaded casements. The building is included on the list for its group value.
