Description

Lower Mill Cottages are a pair of cottages located in Ashbury, Kingstone, Winslow. The first cottage, No. 1, dates from the 18th century, while the two left bays of No. 2 are from the early 19th century. These cottages are attached to the rear gable of Lower Mill House. They are constructed of squared and coursed chalk with brick quoins on the left. No. 2 features a thatched roof and brick stacks. The cottages are 1.5 stories high and have a four-window range. No. 1 has a central planked door with a timber lintel, while No. 2 is entered from the left gable and has a 20th-century porch. No. 1 has timber lintels above its windows, and No. 2 has brick segmental arches over its 20th-century casements. The roof is half-hipped at the right end, with one ridge stack located between the two cottages. The interior has not been inspected.
