Description
Knowl Farmhouse is a timber-framed house that dates from the 17th century, 18th century, and has early and late 19th-century extensions. The building forms an L-shaped block and is one-and-a-half storeys tall with irregular window arrangements. It features a half-hipped tile roof and prominent stacks, one of which rises from an old massive base that was once part of the frame. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond with cambered openings on the ground floor, and there is a small section of exposed framework. The house has recent casement windows and an open porch. The oldest part of the building is exposed within, and the outermost section of the block is single-storeyed, incorporating remnants of a cartshed.
