Description

Elm Grove is an early 19th-century house, altered to create a symmetrical front (south elevation) with three windows over two storeys. A projecting wing extends from the west side. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring small modillion stone eaves. The house is constructed with blue and brindle brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with plastered flat arches, stone sills, and a battered plinth. Sashes are set in reveals, with one large Victorian sash window on the west side. A fine stone Ionic doorcase provides access, featuring a pediment, pulvinated frieze, three-quarter smooth columns, and a half-glazed door. The other elevations feature large, angular brick bays on the ground floor. Internally, a Jacobean-style staircase is present. A sundial, dated 1842, is located on the property but is currently obscured.
