Description
The building is a barn located immediately south of Vine Farmhouse. It dates from the early 17th century, with a lengthening and a midstrey added in the 18th century. There are also 19th and 20th-century attached outbuildings. The barn is timber-framed, featuring a concrete block west gable-end, with walls made of wattle and daub and weatherboarding. The roofs are covered with corrugated iron and pantiles. The original 17th-century barn consists of eight bays and has arch-braced tie-beams connecting alternate pairs of principal rafters. It includes clasped purlin trusses with reduced principals and arched windbracing, along with butt purlins below. The 18th-century roof has collars, alternate ties with knee braces, butt purlins, and queen struts. The later additions are not considered to be of special interest.
