Description

This large barn, located approximately 50 metres south of Oldhouse Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It is timber framed with brick aisles and features an old tile half hipped roof. The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of eight framed bays with aisles on the north and south sides, and it includes two hipped waggon entrances on the south. The frame is constructed from large section timbers and includes two sets of butt purlins, with a king post roof that is braced on each side to the lower purlin. The large posts have square jowls. This barn is noted as a good complete example of early 19th-century agricultural architecture.
